TISSUE-PAPER CARNATIONS

For centuries, carnations have been considered

a symbol of marital bliss and fruitfulness.

Wrapped with pink tissue paper, our charming

Glass-Top Favor Containers are transformed into

lush carnation blooms.

  1. Fill the container with Almond Dragées, also a symbol of fruitfulness. We used Ghiradelli mints.
  2. Cut two square sheets of pink tissue paper wide enough to wrap up around the container. We used lavendar & silver tissue paper that was cut in approximately 10 inch squares to match our colors.
  3. Center the container on top, and draw the tissue paper around it.
  4. Cinch the top with floral wire; trim the wire ends.
  5. Use pinking shears to snip the pink paper about 1'' to 2'' above the cinched area. Make sure that you use a good pair of shears that open & close easily and cut well. We had bought a pair of craft scissors with a "pinking shear" design and they were terrible for cutting tissue paper!!
  6. Fluff the "petals" of the flower. According to Kelly, Laura's MOH, this is the most important step... Laura got an "A" for effort but failed rather miserably at fluffing the flowers!
  7. Arrange the carnation favors in neat rows on a table in an entrance hall or by the exit of the reception. We had them placed at each place setting at the reception.
